Learn to play – Our structured programme

At K'Rocko Guitar Lessons we believe a solid foundation is the key to success. Our programme is carefully designed and split into 10 meaningful modules that take you step by step – from your very first note to improvising on your own.

The guitar course programme: 10 modules, fret by fret

The programme applies to both in-person guitar lessons in Novi Zagreb and online lessons. Beginners start at module one, and if you already play we skip what you know.

  1. 1

Getting to know the instrument and the basics

Guitar anatomy, proper posture, basic notation and how to tune your guitar accurately.

  2. 2

First steps, the pick and finger dexterity

An introduction to alternate picking, getting a clean tone, the popular "Spider" exercise for finger development and the basics of working with a metronome.

  3. 3

Reading chord diagrams and guitar tablature (TAB)

How to quickly read and understand guitar-specific notation so you can learn songs from the internet on your own.

  4. 4

    Open chords and rhythm basics

Learning the basic major and minor chords, smooth changes between them and a range of strumming patterns (right-hand rhythms).

  5. 5

More advanced chords – Barre technique

Mastering the barre chords that give so many players trouble. We learn the E-shape and A-shape, which let you play chords all over the neck.

  6. 6

    Expressive playing techniques

At last we bring in the techniques that give the guitar that "real" sound: hammer-on, pull-off, slide, bending, vibrato and palm muting.

  7. 7

Scales and an introduction to improvisation

Learning the minor pentatonic and the C major scale. Playing along to backing tracks and unlocking your creativity with your first solos.

  8. 8

Playing with your fingers (Fingerpicking / Fingerstyle / Arpeggio technique)

Putting the pick down and working with your fingers. Learn to pick across the strings for beautiful, melodic acoustic arrangements.

  9. 9

    Practical music theory

The mysterious world of music theory, explained simply. We learn power chords, how chords are built and how to find notes across the whole neck.

  10. 10

Instrument care and the psychology of effective practice

How to change strings properly, look after the wood of your guitar and build a daily practice routine that lets you progress fastest, without the frustration.

Acoustic or electric guitar?

In our guitar lessons we play both acoustic and electric guitar. The fundamentals are the same, so the 10-module programme works for both – you choose what you want to play, and Filip adapts the songs and exercises.

Do I need my own guitar?

No, you don't need your own guitar. We have an excellent Harley Benton guitar for all our students to play during lessons.

The lessons are taught by Filip Šindler, K'Rocko's guitar teacher. He has been playing guitar for 11 years. He teaches one-to-one and in small groups, in person in Novi Zagreb and online.

Do I need any previous experience?

What ages are the lessons for?

The lessons are suitable for all ages. We run a children's course for the youngest players – just choose it in the contact form.

Can I take just one lesson before a package?

Do you also teach online?
